Rundel Library Terrace

Bayer Landscape Architecture hired to design Rundel Library exterior!

Bayer Landscape Architecture was recently selected by the City of Rochester to rehabilitate the plaza and streetscape surrounding the historic Rundel Library. The project objectives include structural assessment and repairs to the famed subway tunnels and waterworks below the library and re-imagining the above ground plaza and streetscape through a comprehensive master plan, and design and construction documentation for implementation of the initial phase of improvements. Bayer has partnered with engineering firm LaBella Associates to complete this project. It is expected to get underway by late 2016.

Bayer's initial concept ideas include designing site specific amenities that serve library programming, activate streetlife, integrate into future use of the historic Broad Street Aqueduct, and make a meaningful experiential connection to a unique segment of Rochester's most significant natural asset: the Genesee River.
